Job completion checklist

The difference between a job that's "done" and a job that's done and paid is the wrap-up. Run this checklist before you leave every site to protect yourself, impress the customer, and get paid faster.

Before you leave the site

  • All work matches the approved scope (and any change orders)
  • The work area is cleaned up and materials are removed
  • Before-and-after photos are taken and saved to the job
  • You've done a walkthrough with the customer
  • The customer has signed off / confirmed they're satisfied
  • Materials and parts used are recorded
  • Any extra work was captured as an approved change order — not a surprise

Close out the paperwork

  • Time on the job is logged
  • Warranty or care instructions handed to the customer (if applicable)
  • The invoice is prepared and sent — ideally before you pull out of the driveway
  • Payment is collected or a clear due date is set
  • A follow-up or recurring visit is scheduled if needed

Earn the next job

  • Ask a happy customer for a review while the work is fresh
  • Leave a card or mention other services you offer
  • Note anything you spotted that may need attention later — and tell them
